Grimsby Town are set to hand a run out to a former Tottenham Hotspur & QPR midfielder in their preseason friendly at Cleethorpes Town.
Mariners’ boss Ian Holloway is keen to get a closer look at midfielder Chris Paul, who is currently on the books at National League South side Havant & Waterlooville.
Chris joined the under-nines at Tottenham, before going on trial at QPR in 2016.
His performances for the R’s under-18 and under-21 sides were enough to earn a professional deal at Loftus Road.
Paul spent two seasons with the West London side, before his release at the end of the 2017/18 season.
He eventually secured a move to Havant & Waterlooville, then plying their trade in the National League, in December 2018.
The player made 18 league appearances in his first season with the Hawks, scoring once in a 2-1 defeat to Chesterfield.
Paul spent time on loan at Hampton & Richmond Borough at the start of last season, returning to the Hawks to play 15 times before the season was halted due to COVID-19.
He earned a new deal at Havant & Waterlooville in February but appears to be one of a number of players that have opted to leave the club, due to the restrictions placed on non league sides as part of the Coronavirus outbreak.
The Northern Irishman is described as a defensive-minded midfielder, who is also comfortable playing in the back line.
