πŸ‘₯ Another familiar face set for Blundell Park return

As exclusively revealed on our site at the weekend, the Mariners have approached former boss Paul Hurst about a return to the Blundell Park dugout.

Hurst was in attendance as the Mariners drew 0-0 with Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night, as his return draws ever closer.

Now a source close to the former Ipswich Town chief has indicated that he is keen to bring his former Mariners’ assistant Chris Doig back to Blundell Park.

The former Nottingham Forest defender moved to Blundell Park in August 2013, initially as a player/coach, before becoming player/assistant manager the following summer.

Doig followed Hurst out of Blundell Park to Shrewsbury in October 2016 and subsequently to Ipswich and Scunthorpe United.

It is believed that Doig’s arrival would see a shakeup of the Mariners’ backroom staff.

We still expect Hurst to be in charge of the Mariners by the time they face Cambridge United on Saturday 2 January.
