A stunning hat-trick from Omar Bogle helped the Mariners to a resounding win over Stevenage in the first meeting between the two sides at Blundell Park.
Bogle opened the scoring on the quarter-hour, swiveling on Ashley Chambers’ cross and finishing low into the bottom right corner. The striker turned provider on 40 minutes as Luke Summerfield doubled the advantage with a neat finish from 18 yards.
The visitors responded on the stroke of half-time when Fraser Franks rose highest to head home from inside the penalty area. But it was the hosts who took the game by the scruff of the neck within five minutes of the second half.
Bogle teed up Dominic Vose for a curling 25-yard effort on 49 minutes and 60 seconds later, Kayden Jackson released his strike partner, who turned neatly in the box and finished via the near post.
Stevenage threatened a comeback when Jobi McAnuff tapped in from close range on 66 minutes but, after hitting the woodwork, Bogle completed his hat-trick with a well-taken 25-yard free kick in injury time.
