🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 11 Welsh Wizards who played for Grimsby Town

Left Wing: Chris Llewellyn
A Welsh international who was comfortable out wide or up front, Chris Llewellyn made his name with Norwich City, where he scored 17 times in 142 league games. Enjoyed great success in two spells at Wrexham, which sandwiched a short stint at Hartlepool United. He joined the Mariners in 2008 but struggled to settle in the side, making 28 league outings in a tumultuous campaign. Moved back to Wales with Neath in 2009 and has since turned out for Llanelli and Aberystwyth, before taking up a player/assistant manager role at West End.

Striker: Tony Rees
Popular striker from Alan Buckley’s first spell with the club, Tony started out at Aston Villa and later impressed for Birmingham and Barnsley before netting 33 goals in 141 games for the Mariners as they settled in Division One following back-to-back promotions. An extremely clever player, noted for his hold-up strength and his clever tricks and back heels, Tony won his solitary Welsh cap in 1984. Injuries shortened his career and he bowed out after stints with West Brom and Merthyr Tydfil.

Striker: Lee Nogan
A 1997 signing from Reading, Lee starred in Town’s 97/98 double Wembley campaign, scoring 13 times in all competitions. He had previously impressed in spells with Oxford and Watford and later went onto star for Darlington and York before taking up a player/manager role with Whitby Town and is now assistant manager at FC Halifax Town, having retired from playing in 2011. He won two Welsh caps in the 90s.
