Heed: Farman; Odhiambo, Curtis, Clark, Rents; Gate, Turnbull, Cummins (Nix 72), Odubade (Mulligan 89); Shaw, Moore (Fisher 72). Subs not used: Deasy, Baxter

Mariners: McKeown; Wood, I’Anson, Kempson, Pearson; Church (Elding 75), Disley, Artus; Coulson (Makofo 60), Hearn, Duffy (Spencer 75). Subs not used: Thompson, Freeman

12 mins: Michael Coulson does well on the right and pulls the ball back for Frankie Artus but he fires over from 18 yards.

23 mins: Ben Clark fires a powerful 20-yard effort straight at James McKeown and Liam Hearn registers a low half volley on target from the goalkeeper’s long kick upfield.

34 mins: OFF THE LINE! An Artus corner causes problems and Hearn fires in a shot that Pearson deflects towards goal but Clark is on hand to hack it clear.

36 mins: Coulson attacks down the left this time and his long cross is headed onto the roof of the net by Rob Duffy from a good position.

40 mins: Hearn outstrips the home defence and tries to clip the ball over ‘keeper Paul Farman but he remains big and smothers the effort.

52 mins: Paul Turnbull works some space in the area but fires his shot wide of the target with just McKeown to beat.

55 mins: OFF THE LINE! Pearson is again unlucky as he rises highest to meet an Artus corner but sees former Mariners’ trialist Kris Gate clear off the goal-line.

58 mins: GOAL! Yemi Odubade picks out the run of top scorer Jon Shaw and the Gateshead striker finishes powerfully across McKeown to give the hosts the lead.

60 mins: Duffy wastes a good chance by firing over from inside the area after tremendous build-up play by Hearn on the right.

78 mins: GOAL DISALLOWED! Hearn is again the supply line on the right and substitute Anthony Elding is on hand to flick the ball in at the near post but the goal is ruled out for a marginal offside decision against the Town striker.

83 mins: Elding gets in behind the home defence again and he lays the ball off for fellow sub Damian Spencer but he miskicks with the goal at his mercy.

88 mins: Spencer has a clear-cut penalty appeal waved away when he gets goal-side of Clark and is hauled to the floor.
