Sources close to the player’s agent suggest a Grimsby Town striker could be departing Blundell Park before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm.
It is understood that Alhagi Touray Sisay is set to leave the Mariners, with the player having pushed for a loan move away from Blundell Park for several months.
The Spanish striker arrived from Aberystwyth Town in the summer but has been restricted to just two brief appearances so far, also failing to make an impact on loan at Cleethorpes Town.
Wrexham were believed to be an early frontrunner to bring the player to North Wales, but uncertainty about the future of this season’s National League curtailed that interest.
Irish outfit Finn Harps were another keen to bring the player in but, with their season not starting until March, it would mean another two months without first team football for the former Newcastle United trialist.
It now looks like current JD Cymru Premier Champions Connah’s Quay Nomads are set to bring Sisay to the Deeside Stadium on loan until the end of the season.
The Nomads sit second in the Cymru Premier table, three points behind leaders The New Saints, but with a game in hand and have lost just once this season.
